Ryan Thompson of Appendix N Entertainment is crowdfunding for 'Zines with Class. You can catch a previous interview with the author here.
Question: Easy question first: Give us the elevator pitch of your project. Tell us about it in two sentences or less. Answer: Zines With Class of Old-School Essentials offer 5 new classes, each in their own individual zine! Zines will feature the full class, advanced race (where applicable), spell lists, new spells, flavor text new abilities and more. 5 classes is the base here, There will be stretch goals for more, adding more flavorful classes, new magic systems outside of the standard vancian system and much more! Higher end stretch goals are not yet revealed, but include something fantastic New and different classes can add a great deal of flavor to an otherwise vanilla game! Q: Is this your first ZQ project or have you done it before? If it's your first, talk a bit about what inspired you to give it a shot this year. If you've done it before, what's something you've learned from previous ZineQuests that you may be doing differently this time, or, if you're not doing anything differently, talk a bit about your previous projects. A: This is not our first rodeo. Appendix N Entertainment has successfully fulfilled 6 Kickstarters and we are in the process of filling our 7th now. This time around I have given us more time than typical to fulfill, to ensure that any supply chain problems will not be an issue. Unfortunately, I have also had to raise the shipping cost (and to some countries it was exponential) due to the USPS either increasing costs, or not delivering to certain countries at this time. Q: Finally, tell us something about your current project that really excites you but the average backer may not be aware of. Maybe a twist to an old trope, a new way of presenting something, or maybe just something you've never tried before that you're using this as an opportunity to try out.
A: First off, two of the core classes presented, the Sage and Chimpanzee folk were presented in our first Kickstarter ever for "Lost Classes: The Arnesonian Classes." That work started out as an OD&D project. Because of this it was a bit more fast & loose than what we see in OSE. Also... sloppier. The work was not as clean. We wanted to tighten up both the rules (bring them in line with BX style) and the layout for these classes. We hope that everyone enjoys the new versions!
